1ST NATIONAL MARITIME SECONDARY SCHOOLS E-QUIZ COMPETITION; AN INSIGHT INTO THE CAREER OPPORTUNITIES IN THE MARITIME SECTOR.

The Ocean Ambassadors initiative 1st National Maritime E-quiz Competition was the first of its kind where private and public school students came together to listen to maritime lectures,environmental talks and life changing motivational talks at Afe Babalola Hall, University Of Lagos (Unilag) Akoka Lagos on Tuesday September 24th,2019.
Mrs Violet Olaitan Willilams,CEO Vow ventures limited,convener of the programme started the event by welcoming students, teachers,guests to the august event and analyzing the theme “Career opportunities in the maritime sector” .
She stated that as the global maritime village is promoting Blue Economy, we need to tap into it in Nigeria as a maritime nation and the best way is to start with the upcoming generation. She urged the students to seize the opportunity of a life changing career path that they will be exposed to them in the course of the lecture series.

The special guest of the occasion was Hadjia Lami Tumaka ,Director Special Duties,External Relations & Technical Cooperation NIMASA ,who gave a talk about being focused in life and explained the roles of NIMASA in the maritime sector.

The first session of the career talk was by Mrs Kofo Afolayan ,she discussed the topic “career opportunities in the maritime sector” this was followed by another career talk by Miss Wunmi Ogunde,CEO Ecoprune, who discussed the topic “Waste recycling” she explained that waste recycling is the best way to ensure clean and healthy environment. The last career talk session was by Mr .Biodun Omolayo,founder Omolayo Art Gallery,he narrated the story of how he became successful and emphasized that hard work and consistency with faith are the tools one needs to be successful.
During the career talk sessions the student representing the ten participating schools were conveyed to Distant learning Institute to take the maritime e-quiz test in which Baptist Academy emerged first ,Ansaru-deen College second and White Dove Schools Lekki third.
